Sunday morning

I am sitting here like some crazed pajama-clad Madame DeFarge watching “Say Yes to the Dress.”

A bride has come back to the store because her fiancé has dumped her, leaving her with a $6000 gown that she can’t wear out to dinner or to prom.

I don’t believe in a litigious society, but I believe I’d be getting my money out of the reluctant and former object of my affections one way or another.

Back to my knitting.

As you were.

I love “Say Yes to the Dress”. It’s one of my guilty pleasures.

I suspect she could at least attempt to reclaim some of her money from the Ex. It is breach of a verbal contract.

That said, serves her right for buying a 6000 dress.

I think the dress was actually $11,000. The $6,000 was her deposit that was non-refundable.

Maybe I’m just a cheapie. I couldn’t stand the thought of paying even a thousand for a dress I would wear a few hours. I think my dress was like $500 or so.

I’ve been dress shopping with a lot of people, and honestly, I think I could find a dress for a couple hundred dollars.

Realistically, for me to spend $6000 in a chunk on something, it would have to be jewelry or art, and even then it would give me a stomachache. The first time I bought a plane ticket, I nearly threw up.

I got mine for $450 as I recall, plus another $200 to alter it to fit me. It worked. I’m never going to wear it again, so somehow it didn’t make sense for me to buy something museum quality.
