The truth for today

Become aware that there are no accidents in our intelligent universe. Realize that everything that shows up in your life has something to teach you. Appreciate everyone and everything in your life. – Wayne Dyer

I don’t happen to know that much about Wayne Dyer. I just looked him up on Wikipedia, which everybody knows is the ultimate authority on everything. Here is another quote of his: I don’t think that Jesus was teaching Christianity, Jesus was teaching kindness, love, concern, and peace. What I tell people is don’t be Christian, be Christ-like. Don’t be Buddhist, be Buddha-like.

I don’t think it’s an altogether bad idea to try to live like Jesus. For that matter, I don’t think it’s an altogether bad idea to try to live like Leroy Jethro Gibbs or Atticus Finch or Tom Sawyer’s aunt, either.

Take what you need and leave the rest behind.

It’s becoming increasingly harder not to read the rest of those cards and get it over with.
